David M. “Marty” Stovie was born on September 5, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was he third of six children in the Stovie family. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, on May 1, 1965. They were married for 61 years.
Marty started his career with UPS (United Parcel Service) in several roles and positions. Throughout the years, he continued working in the sales industry. Marty ended his career at the Madonna School as a van driver for his granddaughter, Avery and her friends with special needs. This was by far, his favorite job!
Marty and Kathy were blessed with two daughters, Jill and Amy, followed by four grandchildren: Mason, Mary, Avery, and Brendan. He was very proud of his family and ALWAYS put them first.
Marty enjoyed many activities/sports, and was good at them all: including tennis, racquetball, golf, and checkers. He loved watching his grandsons, Mason and Brendan play baseball, and he was a die hard HUSKER FAN!

Marty promoted checkers in Nebraska for two decades and held and sponsored the District 7 Tournaments. He established the “Kingsrow Checker Club,” and created the Nebraska Checker Hall of Fame.
